NACIS的跨学科教育基因,在世界学者杯(World Scholar's Cup)的赛场中得到充分彰显——学校不仅在2022年曾作为该赛事的官方举办地,为学子搭建起家门口的国际化竞技平台,更在Maggie老师的指引下,从2017年首次组队参赛的青涩,成长为屡创佳绩的竞赛强校,而这一路的蜕变,正是她与学校共同成长的鲜活注脚。
The interdisciplinary educational ethos of NACIS is demonstrated on the stage of the World Scholar’s Cup. In 2022, NACIS served as an official host venue for the competition, providing students with an international platform right on campus. With Ms. Maggie’s leadership, we have advanced from the inexperienced beginnings of its first team in 2017 to becoming a strong, award-winning competitor - an evolution that reflects her shared growth with NACIS.
作为赛事核心指导者,Maggie老师将数学学科的分类思想、逻辑推理能力转化为学生们的核心竞赛优势。面对赛事涵盖科学、历史、艺术等多领域的上百篇艰深阅读材料,她引导学生像拆解数学难题一样,提炼文章核心论点、标注逻辑关联、归类对立观点,把零散信息梳理成清晰的知识框架。2019年备战全球赛时,她带领G6-G7学生利用课余时间强化英文词汇,加练高难度文本阅读,最终在4000余名选手参赛的北京全球赛中,首次闯入总决赛,实现NACIS在世界学者杯的历史性突破。
As the core mentor, Ms. Maggie transforms mathematical classification methods and logical reasoning into students’ competitive strengths. Faced with hundreds of dense reading passages across science, history, the arts, and more, she trains students to deconstruct each text such as extracting central claims, mapping logical connections, categorising contrasting viewpoints, and organising scattered information into coherent knowledge frameworks. During preparation for the 2019 Global Round, she led grades 6 and 7 students in strengthening vocabulary and practising advanced reading comprehension after school hours. Their efforts resulted in NACIS’s first-ever entry into the final round of the Beijing Global Round - an historic breakthrough achieved among more than 4,000 participants.
此后,这份竞赛传承不断延续,Maggie老师带领团队不断优化备战、应战策略。在辩论训练中,Maggie老师展现了她全能指导的实力。她先安排有经验的学生示范,再将教室与走廊变成训练场开展辩论实战。作为观察者,她穿梭于各组之间,既能从逻辑层面指导学生完善论点、补充论据,又能从表达层面纠正时间控制、反驳技巧等问题;遇到学生因输赢产生情绪波动时,她还化身心理疏导专家,耐心引导大家理解“团队协作没有对错”,并巧妙搭配内敛和外向性格学生的组队模式,平衡团队氛围。更难得的是,她还带动往届学生志愿担任辩论裁判,形成良性循环,让竞赛训练不仅是知识的提升,更是团队协作与传承的成长。正因如此,NACIS学子们带着完整训练体系的准备再战赛场,延续成绩上的突破。2023年,Maggie老师带队的NACIS学子于世界学者杯耶鲁总决赛中一共获得26金39银的傲人成绩,中学组的Michelle获得3金3银;2025年,G7学子们在她的指导下,延续辉煌战绩,凭借扎实的跨学科素养与出色的协作能力,一举在总决赛斩获3枚金牌和9枚银牌。每一份战绩的背后,既是Maggie老师的专业深耕,更是NACIS学术平台持续升级的有力印证。
The tradition of excellence has continued. Under her leadership, the team has refined preparation and competition strategies. In debate training, Ms. Maggie demonstrates her versatility as an all-round coach: experienced students model debate rounds; classrooms and corridors become practice arenas; and she moves between groups offering targeted feedback - improving logic, strengthening arguments, refining delivery, and advising on time management and rebuttal skills. When students experience emotional ups and downs due to competition results, she becomes a mentor for social-emotional support, guiding them to understand that “There is no right or wrong in teamwork” and strategically pairing introverted and extroverted students to balance team dynamics. Remarkably, she also engages the previous group of students to return as volunteer judges, creating a sustainable cycle. Under the comprehensive training system, NACIS students continue to excel. In 2023, NACIS team achieved 26 golds and 39 silvers at the Yale Tournament of Champions, with Michelle earning 3 golds and 3 silvers. In 2025, her G7 team continued this success, winning 3 gold medals and 9 silver medals in the final round, demonstrating exceptional interdisciplinary competence and teamwork. Each achievement reflects not only Ms. Maggie’s professional depth but also the continuous upgrading of NACIS’s academic platform.

“双语教学不是语言的简单转换,而是让不同学科在双语环境中自然融合。”作为数学双语教学的深耕者,Maggie老师打破学科壁垒,将数学与语言、科学、艺术、音乐等多个领域无缝衔接,让抽象的数学概念“活”起来,尽显多面手的教学智慧。
“Bilingual teaching is not a simple language switch - it is the natural integration of disciplines within a bilingual environment.” As a long-term practitioner of bilingual mathematics teaching, Ms. Maggie transcends disciplinary boundaries and integrates mathematics with language, science, art, music, and more. Her multidimensional approach brings abstract mathematical concepts to life and shows her versatility.
为了让双语数学的教学既专业又易懂,Maggie老师深耕教材研究,取长补短:先用逻辑清晰、贴合认知的新加坡数学教材为学生打牢基础,再引入美国教材中丰富的跨学科场景,让数学知识有了落地的土壤。在应用题中,她将代数式与生物基因结合,提出“黑猫基因AA与白猫基因Aa,生下纯黑小猫的概率是多少”的问题,让学生在讨论遗传规律的同时,轻松掌握代数式与概率知识,为学生搭建起学科关联的桥梁。面对低年级学生英文数数的难题,Maggie老师将数学与音乐结合,当茱莉亚学院的大提琴老师Andrea Lee来校交流时,她顺势引导学生观察乐器形状——“大提琴像数字8”,在英文互动中自然渗透数学知识,让课堂充满惊喜与趣味。这种“数学+N”的教学模式,不仅让学生爱上数学,更培养了他们用多元视角解决问题的能力。
To ensure that bilingual mathematics lessons are both rigorous and accessible, she engages in deep curriculum research. She grounds students in the clear logic and cognitive alignment of Singapore Math, then introduces the contextual interdisciplinary scenarios found in U.S. textbooks, giving mathematical concepts real-world application. For example, she combines algebra with biological genetics by asking students to calculate the probability that a black-furred cat with genotype AA and a white-furred cat with genotype Aa will produce pure black offspring - allowing students to understand heredity while mastering algebraic expressions and probability. For lower-grade students who struggle with mathematics in English, she integrates mathematics with music. During an exchange with Ms. Andrea Lee from the Julliard School, she guided students to observe the shape of the cello - “The cello looks like the number 8” - naturally embedding mathematical thinking into English-language interaction. Her “Math + N” model not only fosters students’ passion for mathematics but also trains them to approach problem-solving from multiple perspectives.

Precision in bilingual academic expression is another area where Ms. Maggie excels. She ensures that mathematical concepts remain uncompromised in accuracy, refining terminology such as “function graph” and “logical reasoning” to maintain academic correctness while keeping English explanations accessible. She also incorporates WSC interdisciplinary readings into daily lessons, enabling students to enhance their mathematical skills while strengthening English reading and critical-thinking abilities. Many of her students have thrived under her influence. Hugo from grade 10, a volunteer debate judge, applied his integrated skill set to achieve a global gold medal in the international iGEM competition. Graduates such as Lillian and Oliver have continued to excel academically, receiving offers from universities including UC Berkeley and Pomona College, leveraging the logical reasoning and interdisciplinary thinking skills cultivated in her classroom. These achievements attest to the strength of Ms. Maggie’s teaching philosophy and reflect the tangible outcomes of NACIS’s interdisciplinary education.

Since joining the founding team of NACIS in 2016, Ms. Maggie’s ten-year educational journey has resonated with the development of NACIS. Over the past decade, she has transitioned from a grade 1 form tutor to a secondary mathematics teacher, and later to a World Scholar’s Cup coach, while also contributing to NACIS’s professional development initiatives and specialising in bilingual mathematics research. Each transition has aligned seamlessly with NACIS’s evolving academic needs, allowing her to both witness and participate in the continual refinement of the interdisciplinary education system.
十年间,她不仅见证了NACIS从初创到成熟的蜕变,更用温暖与坚守陪伴一批又一批学生成长。她会因材施教,根据不同班级、不同学生的特点调整教学方法;会在学生遇到困难时耐心倾听,做他们的“树洞”与引路人;会与毕业学子保持联系,把他们的成长故事分享给现任学生,用榜样的力量激励大家前行。“我不要求学生记住所有公式,但希望他们多年后回首,会想起在NACIS有一位老师,让他们觉得学习是有趣的,成长是温暖的。”这份简单而真挚的愿望,正是她作为教育者最动人的坚守。
During the ten years, she has not only observed NACIS’s transformation from its early beginnings to a mature school but has also accompanied generation after generation of students with warmth and steadfast commitment. She differentiates her instruction according to the needs of each class and each student; she listens patiently as a friend and mentor when students encounter difficulties; she maintains close connections with graduates and shares their stories with current students, using the power of example to inspire their growth. “I do not expect students to remember every formula,” she often says, “I hope that years from now, they will look back and recall that at NACIS there was a teacher who made learning delightful, and their journey of growth filled with warmth.” This simple yet sincere wish captures the essence of her most meaningful commitment as a teacher.
